Our history dates back to 1980, when we were established by Northwestern Bell (now CenturyLink) and Iowa Illinois Gas & Electric (now MidAmerican Energy Co.) as a voluntary service to protect their utility systems. Since 1993, Iowa One Call has become a mandatory service for all owners and operators of underground facilities in Iowa, with over 1,400 members currently participating. We provide a single point of contact for excavators, homeowners, and anyone planning to disturb the earth. Our service is free and easy to use, and it's the law in Iowa. Simply call 811 or submit a ticket online to request the locating and marking of underground facilities. Iowa One Call is not a utility or a locating service. We do not own any facilities and do not locate underground facilities ourselves.
