History After Peter spent 11 years working for a local general engineering firm, Peter and Hilary Lapidus founded the company in 2000 and have enjoyed the diversity of the work available in Santa Barbara County. Peter grew up on an avocado ranch in Carpinteria, where he learned an appreciation and respect for the outdoors from his grandfather, an avid outdoorsman, teacher, and artist. As a youth, Peter ran tractors on the ranch, acquiring an interest in owning and operating heavy equipment. In addition to running the Construction Company, Peter also grows Avocados commercially. Hilary also learned an appreciation for construction early on, when her family built an adobe home on a mountain peak in Toro Canyon when she was a child. She too developed an affinity for large vehicles while riding with her dad in his 18 wheeler. It is this long-term interest in heavy equipment operation and passion for the outdoors that gives Peter Lapidus Construction its strength and vision.
